  • Mr. Steve Becton, Facing History and Ourselves – Expert talk on creating an identity safe and culturally responsive learning community with SOE faculty and students.
  • Dr. Michael J. Orosco – Expert talk with teacher education faculty on culturally responsive evidence-based practices. 
  • CEEDAR Experts – IC training with teacher education faculty.
  • Core Ensemble – Chamber music performance, Of Ebony Embers (explored the Harlem Renaissance)
  • Hidden Figures movie viewing in partnership with School of Engineering, CICEE, and SAA

2017-18

  • Brown Bag Discussion – Engaging in Courageous Conversations about Charlottesville: How to and When?
  • Education Symposium – State of Education for African American Students in Mississippi 63 Years after Brown v. Board of Education
  • CEEDAR Experts – Workshop with faculty on using the Networked Improvement Community (NIC) to analyze courses for implementation of CRP.
  • Student workshop on using culturally relevant children’s literature.
  • Mr. Steve Becton – Expert talk with teacher education faculty and students on addressing sensitive topics of diversity. 
  • Doctoral Student Panel Discussion – State of Education for African American Students in Mississippi 63 Years after Brown v. Board of Education
  • Core Ensemble – Chamber music performance, Equally Divine (explored gender fluidity)

2018-19

  • Teacher education faculty utilized CEEDAR IC to review and revise course syllabi to incorporate CR practices.
  • Mr. Steve Becton – Expert talk with teacher education faculty and students on addressing sensitive topics of diversity. 
  • Dr. Jennifer Nelson – Expert talk with teacher education faculty and students on implementing High Leverage Practices (HLPs).
  • Dr. Benjamin Reese Jr. – Expert talk with School of Education faculty and students and Oxford School District teachers on implicit bias.
  • The Hate U Give – Faculty/graduate student book study group led by Ms. Shimikqua Ellis and group attended movie for further discussion.
  • Angie Thomas – Skype interview with Angie Thomas, author of The Hate U Give.
  • Core Ensemble – Chamber music performance, Los Valientes (explored the lives of Diego Rivera, Archbishop Oscar Romero, and Joaquin Murrieta: Zorro).
  • Lewis Diuguid/Bette Tate-Beaver – Expert talk on Sankofa Solution Mentoring with journalism and School of Education faculty, staff, students as well as the University and Oxford community.

2019-20

  • SOE Inclusion Advisory Committee established.
  • Becoming – Faculty/graduate student book study group led by Dr. Alexandria White.
  • Mr. Steve Becton – Expert talk with teacher education students and faculty on Indigenous People Day and Mr. Emmett Till.
  • The Hate U Give – Movie viewing with faculty and students and debrief afterwards with Ms. Shimikqua Ellis.
  • SOE Choose to Include Peace Walk – Symbolic walk to honor the memory of Mr. Emmett Till and educate faculty, staff, and students about hate crimes, hate crime victims, and inclusion strategies.
  • MS Civil Rights Museum Trip – Faculty, staff, and students visited the museum and participated in debrief and discussion with museum staff.
  • Bright Star Touring Company – Performance  of We Can Do It! American Women in History for teacher education faculty and students as well as Lafayette and Oxford School Districts.
